Bonded Retainers (Fixed Retainers)

A bonded retainer is a thin wire bonded to the lingual surfaces of the anterior teeth to hold them in place after orthodontic treatment. Bonded retainers are also known as fixed or permanent retainers.

Our bonded retainers are made on an accurate model to your prescription, for upper or lower arches, ready for you to bond in the surgery. Tell us the span (for example canine to canine), the wire type and any special instructions. Because a bonded retainer can trap plaque and food, patients need clear advice on cleaning around the wire.

What to Send Us

A bonded retainer is a single wire, made of metal or strong fibre, bonded to the lingual surfaces of the teeth. Bonded retainers are more common on the lower arch and usually cover the front four to six teeth. Send us an intraoral scan from iTero, 3Shape, Medit, Dexis or Owandy, or post impressions, with your prescription. Our own driver serves London practices, and we deliver nationwide.
